T. M. P. Kumarihamy is on e of the most experienced lady sports officers in the Central Province. She is an old girl of Walala Central College.

She was an outstanding netball player in School as well as in the District. She became a coach after joining the Ministry of Sports in 1980. She served first at Hasalaka after joining the Ministry.

She has produced some national players in Netball and among them are Indrani Samararatne, Samantha Rajapaksa, Sujani Dilrukshi Gamage, A. G. L. Priyangika to name a few.

She is a black belt in Karate and she was the Junior Champion in 1978 and Senior Champion in 1979 and 1980. She learnt Karate under Ediriweera Weerawardena (present minister of the Central Province). She is a cyclist and came first in the Kandy District Ladies Cycle Race for a number of years since 1977.

She came sixth at the all island Cycle race in 1979. This particular race was won by Wasantha Kahapolaarachchi. She is a cycling coach and a referee.

She is also functioning as the committee member of the Sri Lanka Cycle Federation.
